What is the Sweet Spot for Exercise?

May 30, 2021

I firmly believe that every person has a sweet spot as it pertains to exercising and whether they are getting too much or not enough over the span of a week.

Almost all lifestyle research will show that a minimum of 150 minutes per week is required to start to see a decrease in health issues such as heart disease, diabetes, lifestyle cancers and obesity so this is the target I usually suggest as a starting goal.

So what does this mean for you?

Well, if you’re not currently exercising, I strongly encourage you to start. If 20 minutes a day is out of reach, then start with 10 minutes. If you don’t have exercise equipment, start by walking outside.

I also suggest getting a partner or buddy to actually exercise with, or if that is not possible due to restrictions, to virtually check-in with. It is proven that people are more likely to reach their goals when they have an accountability partner who is equally, if not more, motivated to hit weekly targets – so keep this in mind when selecting yours.

Need a little more encouragement to get started? Let me introduce you to Just Move June – our 21-Day Movement Challenge

This challenge is entirely free and starts next week (Thursday, June 3rd!!).

Each day, you will submit that you have completed your 20 minutes of activity for that day and at the end of each week, you'll be entered to win that week's prize!

Not only will there be three weekly prizes, but there will also be a grand prize at the end of the 21 days – a health bundle from the Sante Centre in Bedford, NS.

We will also be going LIVE in the Facebook group to show you some options for workouts. These virtual workouts will include using your bodyweight, mobility routines, a Pilates class, a yoga class and a work out with a personal trainer.

Whether you are just getting started and need guidance or have an established exercise routine that could use some recharging, this challenge is for YOU!

Just click HERE to register and make sure you encourage your “buddy” to join as well as it will be more fun with more people.

As always, if you have any concerns regarding this topic or any of my previous topics, please feel free to reach out to me at [email protected].
